The project’s environmental impact assessment and safety assessment were approved in early 2017. Dinotefuran is a broad-spectrum insecticide belonging to the third generation of neonicotinoid insecticides. It exhibits contact and stomach toxicity, strong systemic activity, and relatively long residual efficacy. When used in accordance with recommended practices, it can be applied to rice, wheat, vegetables, fruit trees, tea, cotton, tobacco, and ornamental plants for the control of pests such as planthoppers, mirid bugs, whiteflies, leafhoppers, leaf miners, thrips, flea beetles, aphids, and others. It also demonstrates good control efficacy against certain Coleoptera, Diptera, and Lepidoptera pests.

With the increasing demand for effective insecticides with lower resistance risks in agricultural production, market interest in Dinotefuran has continued to grow. At present, numerous manufacturers in China have applied to the relevant authorities for the registration of Dinotefuran technical materials and formulations.
